It’s been seven years since I published my first LGBTQ book list for children. That list had nine books on it, and they were all focused on families. Since then, there has been a shift, and books that include and focus on kids and families in the LGBTQ community are more diverse in all different ways. We still have a long way to go both in publishing and in getting these books on bookshelves, in the hands of children, and being read by teachers during storytime. The world is a big place with all kinds of people. Parents and teachers alike want to teach their children to be kind yes, but to also recognize and do something
