I think that winter is one of the most enjoyable themes to work on with toddler and preschoolers. Whether you live in a place that is under a blanket of snow or is sunny year round it is fun to learn about winter and how animals live, store food, hibernate, etc…

This year we are using The Mitten by Jan Brett as our first book based unit and have a The Mitten Inspired DIY Lacing Card to go along with it to share. The Mitten is a favorite winter themed tale that is perfect for book based activities for toddlers, preschoolers, and older children as well!
